Navarathri in Maharashtra

Dussehra in maharashtra

According to the great Hindu epic Ramayan, Dussehra is the day on which Lord Ram killed Ravan, the evil king of Lanka. It is considered as a shubh-muharat - a very auspicious day - to start a new venture. It is a symbol of the victory of good over evil. People decorate the entrances of their homes with torans, flower studded strings, and worship the tools of trade, vehicles, machinery, weapons and even books. As the evening falls, the villagers cross the border, a ritual known as Simollanghan, and worship the Shami tree. The leaves of the Apta tree are collected and exchanged among friends and relatives as gold.

Self Destructing Email

First there was invisible ink, a boon for anyone in the espionage trade who wanted to keep their words a secret. Then in the 1960s Mission Impossible introduced television viewers to messages on cassette tapes that would self-destruct five seconds after being listened to. Now an American company has invented technology to produce the 21st century equivalent, vanishing emails. New York firm VaporStream guarantees messages will disappear in a puff of virtual smoke after being read once. The company's bosses believe the service will be popular with high-profile businesses which are trying to safe guard corporate secrets. But they admit it could help those involved in shady dealings as well, who might have other reasons for not wanting a permanent record of their dealings. Both sender and receiver must be subscribes to use the technology. They use their usual email addresses, but when routed through the self - destruct portal, the names of sender and receiver vanish and so does the message after being read once. The message cannot be copied, forwarded, or edited, and there is no record of it anywhere on any computer. It is much like a telephone call, in the sense that it doesn't leave a record, but it has the convenience of email.

Rock carvings in Goa

ROCK CARVINGS IN GOA

Goa is one of the most attractive tourist spot. It is mainly famous for its beaches.
But how many of you know about the rock carvings in Goa which are believed to have been created in Stone Age times. Very few people who may know about it.

Any ways if you ever visit Goa take some time out to travel south to the district of Quepem. Make your way via Tilamol town, down the main road, to Zambaulim. From there go further to Rivona and Colombo till you see a little wooded and rugged landscape. You’ll notice the sign board of Archaeological Survey of India.

When you reach you’ll come across an immense pit that has been scooped out of the red earth, a large water body gleaming from its center, like the watery mouth of some prehistoric beast.
The place – Kevan-Dhadole, Usgalimal of Pirla village in Sanguem Taluka is the site of Stone Age rock carvings. More than Hundred figures of creatures, craved deep into hard flesh of rock. Thousands of year ago in the dim reaches of the past when hunting and gathering communities sought to express themselves by creating forms on rock faces.

Rock Art’, in India there as many as twenty-two clusters of painted rock shelters.
The unusual creations in Usgalimal differ from these as they are on hard laterite rock with intense iron content. Apart from this – they are carved and not painted.

To explore these powerful creations, you will have to walk among them. Carvings reveal themselves as those like the zebu bull, deer, gaur, boar-like beasts.

You leave with the feeling that this is surely a place that should be visited by more people and perhaps should be protected and developed. ref - (Heritage India)

Virtual Navigation

Virtual Navigation
A technology called synthetic vision will assist pilots by crisp,video-game-like view of the terrain below in low-visibility conditions.

How synthetic vision works

1. On board instruments use GPS satellites to determine the airplane's geographic position.

2. The coordinates are fed into a computer with a massive database of topographic information and other features such as tall TV antennae.

3. Based on the airplane's coordinates. maps data is generated

4. The data are converted into three dimensional graphics and positioned to give the pilot a view of the terrain; graphics are constantly updated as the plane's coordinates change.

Creating a complete system

Because of concerns about potential inaccuracies in the topographic database, the FAA has called for a system that incorporates synthetic vision and enhanced vision, a technology already in use.

How enhanced vision works

The system uses infrared sensors to create images on display that the human eye cannot see.

Aviation deaths
Colliding into terrain and loss of control are the leading causes of airplane fatalities worldwide since 1987 , making up nearly two-thirds of all deaths*

*Includes passengers, crew and fatalities on the ground; does not include deaths from the Sept 11 attacks.

TINY FROGS

At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who after a big effort was the only one who reached the top!
THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it?
A contestant asked the tiny frog how the one who succeeded had found the strength to reach the goal?
It turned out...
That the winner was DEAF!!!!

The wisdom of this story is:
Never listen to other people’s tendencies to be
negative or pessimistic...
…cause they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you. The ones you have in your heart!

Always think of the power words have.
Because everything you hear and read will affect your actions!

Therefore:
ALWAYS be…
POSITIVE
!

And above all:

Be DEAF when people tell YOU that YOU can not fulfil YOUR dreams!
Always think:
I can do this!

Pass this message on to 5 “tiny frogs” you care about.
Give them some motivation!!!

If Frogs can do why not you........................

Tiny Frogs

These little story i read somewhere and thought to share with u.
The story about the tiny frogs…. Life’s lesson
No. 1
There once was a bunch of tiny frogs,...
… who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.
A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants...

The race began...

Honestly:
No one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower.
You heard statements such as:
"Oh, WAY too difficult!!
They will NEVER make it to the top."
or:
"Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"
The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one...
... Except for those who in a fresh tempo were climbing higher and higher...

The crowd continued to yell
"It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!"

More tiny frogs got tired and gave up...
...But ONE continued higher and higher and higher...
This one wouldn’t give up!

The story will continue in next blog.................
